DOWNTOWN EMERGENCY SERVICES CENTER - VOLUNTEER

I have periodically volunteered with the Downtown Emergency Services Center (DESC) since early 2017. DESC serves individuals who are experiencing chronic homelessness, typically 10 years or more. In addition to housing, DESC provides services to help with mental and behavioral health needs, along with providing basic needs. My duties have included fundraising, event planning assistance, and content review.

During my time volunteering with DESC I built a friendship with a manager there. The ongoing friendship leads to more opportunities to serve this organization and in turn help the vulnerable population it serves.
